Unified Payments Interface (UPI)

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a system that powers multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application (of any participating bank), merging several banking features, seamless fund routing & merchant payments into one roof. NPCI conducted a pilot launch with 21 member banks. The pilot launch was on 11th April 2016 by Dr. Raghuram G Rajan, Governor, RBI. Banks have started to upload their UPI enabled Apps on Google Play store from 25th August, 2016 onwards.

UPI payment system is all about easy, cash free, non-physical transactions. Lets have a look.

Paytm

Paytm was a wallet before but later it became UPI enabled. Its powered by yes bank. One can transfer money from wallet to wallet, wallet to bank, Bank to Bank etc & recently in 2017 it has launched paytm payments bank which gives 4% interest on savings a/c & 8% on fixed deposit but the user have to be fully kyc (to visit a registered paytm kyc store) to avail this service & the limit of money on its savings account is Rs.100000 if this limit exceeds the remaining money will be deposited in fd but one cannot open fd without having 100k in his savings & the benefit of its fd is you can withdraw it anytime without any penalty charges. It provides digital debit card for free, to have it physically Rs.125 will be charged & annual charge is Rs.100. It also charges on money transactions.

Phonepe

Its a wallet cum UPI which gives good cash back on its transactions. One can use it as same as paytm. Its a secure app.

Bhim

Its an UPI only app which means that you cannot store money on it, its only made for UPI & This app was launched by Govt of India so its very trustworthy.

Google Pay

This app was once known as Tez, later google acquired it and renamed it as google pay, its a very simple, secure & convenient to use App. It has a good Interface. This app doesn't have any wallet but its most striking features are the cashbacks which directly credits in your bank & its referral offers are attractive also. With a security of  google it should not doubted by anybody.

Conclusion

Every app is unique in its performence & UI, I find google pay most user friendly and Rewarding. Recently I have stopped Using paytm because of its charges but after using every app I found google pay very secure and customer friendly. I recommend everyone to use it.
