According to me, Digilocker is perhaps the most best progressive initiative by Govt of India. It's a online locker created by Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY), Govt of India under its Digital India Initiative. This app was launched by PM on 1st july 2015.

Digilocker is a cloudbase account system to access authentic documents such as Adhar card (Mandatory), PAN card, Driving licence, Academic mark list from the original issuers of these documents, In 2017 Govt allowed students of ICSE Board to store their class X & XII certificates in Digilocker to share with agencies as required but one needs to possess adhar with mobile no. registered on it to avail these services.It has a storage space of 1 GB & These Documents can also be shared with some agencies to avail online services. Its utility will be more necessary in future.
Purpose
The service is intended to minimise the use of Hard copies, Provide Authenticity of Documents and easy & secure access for residents to receive services.
Safety
It is safe storage space which does not enable leaks of your Important private Documents however in these days no online storage is 100% safe (including banks) but Govt has incorporated all security measures to ensure safety of your vital Documents/Certificates. It has 256 Bit SSL Encryption which is impossible to crack.
I personally use this for using some services & to carry some of my documents digitally without the fear of Theft, Loss....
